The Devil & Me
I watched as it
crumbled
Polished
diamonds to dust.
I watched as it
turned
Solid gold into
rust.
I watched as it
closed
The vacant eyes
of a child.
While people
cried,
I watched as it
smiled.
I watched as it
turned
Ice into flame.
I watched as it
left
While I hid in
shame.
It came to take
me
In the night.
But though I hid
I wouldn't
fight.
He tried to take
me;
He pulled me
under.
It used it's
might
Like a God of
thunder.
My strength was
gone.
So the devil, he
won.
But my life had
not ended,
It had just
begun.
The devil and I;
We fought once
more,
And ten years
later,
I won the war.
Although right
now,
I'm dead you
see,
But the story
lives on
About the devil
and me.
